Below is a quick interview with the general manager at Green Hills Office Suites, Trisha Boyd. She began her serviced office industry career working remotely during the renovation phase of the center which is located in the Green Hills area of Nashville, Tennessee. The center opened in October of 2015.
1. What is your favorite thing about working as a center manager?
The first time I really saw clients interact and speak passionately about their work, I realized that this is a place where so many people come together that truly love what they do. When they talk about it that energy spreads. It was a unique experience to be so heavily involved in the renovation of the building, as well. The space and its location are beautiful. It was a privilege to see the transformation and to use and arrange everything in the building for the first time. There is also a great, organized, knowledgeable team in place, which helps tremendously.
2. Tell me about your first day working with Green Hills Office Suites.
Without a fully set-up home office and wanting complete privacy, I had a laptop propped up to Skype for the day in different rooms of the house, trying to continually maintain a strong internet connection and dodge any outside noise. I was ready to dig in. We were half-way into construction mode with making sure that the building was completed. At the same time, I was devoted to learning the business model. The irony of it was that I desperately needed a Green Hills Office Suites office. Now, I talk to people like “first-day me” about office solutions often.
3. What’s one of the most special features of Nashville?
This town has more positive energy right now than almost anywhere I’ve ever been. Even the things residents and visitors complain about most (traffic, housing costs) represent growth. Between the amenities, landscape, celebrity sightings, music, events, the line wrapped around the Bluebird Café every day and the ongoing conversation about Nashville, you feel like you’re a part of something big when you live here. And, I have come across some of the friendliest, most genuine people I have ever met in this city.
4. What do you like most about the industry?
I appreciate how modern the business model is and all of the interaction with different people in different industries. It’s also satisfying to see that the majority of clients in this industry are fully pursuing what they love to do. I enjoy the fact that we aren’t just providing office space, but rather a full “office solution” for our clients that helps them be successful in the Green Hills Office Suites location!
